Deadliest Catch...

Jeff's parents let us hang out in their fancy uptown apartment while they were away.  I have to confess I got carried away with the cable-watching this weekend.  So much so, in fact, that I sat for about 4 hours straight watching "Deadliest Catch" on the Discovery Channel.  Has anyone else seen this?  IT. WAS. RIVETING.  I couldn't stop watching it.

For those of you who don't know, this is a whole show devoted to crab fishermen.  Sounds dullsville, but it is more like "Perfect Storm" meets "Real World" meets "Fear Factor" or something.  I found myself rooting for these people to get the biggest crab haul ever, crying when 5 men died in the blink of an eye, gasping at how very little or how very much these men can make in a few short days.  And there's one guy, Willie, I found myself just wanting pound into the ground.  What a prima donna.  All he did was bitch and moan - not to mention possibly killing off some 600 crab because he threw a dead fish into the hold.  Dumbass!  They were getting upwards of $30 a crab for the king crab on that haul.  It ended up costing the boat about $25,000 for his idiocy!  Willie better be damned glad I wasn't on that boat, or he'd have been a man overboard.

Anyhow, other than that, Jeff and I walked around uptown, checked out the restaurants, got a smoothie, etc.  I tried to drag him on the trolley, but he had no interest in hopping aboard.  He just kept making "Rice-a-Roni" jokes.  Can't say I blame him though, as he had an upset stomach all weekend, and the toilet launched an all-out offensive on his poor behind - in effect blowing up on him while he was using it and nearly giving him a heart attack.  I won't go into major details on that, to save your stomachs and Jeff's remaining dignity.

I also watched Bobby Flay grill every possible food item, all the time wishing I were watching the Naked Chef. Bobby's not bad, but he doesn't have an accent or use words like "easy-peasy".
