4.2 pounds. Not too bad a weight loss for my first week, I suppose.
Menu this week? Fish, fish, everywhere...
- Breakfast - a small toasted bagel with lox, light cream cheese, tomato and capers or a bowl of cheerios
- Lunch - salads or a lean cuisine
- Dinner - one night I had butternut squash soup with butternut squash ravioli, two dinners of salmon - once grilled with roasted tomatos, once poached and served with tabouleh, then a couple of sandwiches here or there (pickles, tomato, turkey and havarti with dill).
This week's meeting, however, was lacking in general entertainment value. Unless you count the leader's psychotic obsession with making us find something to celebrate:
Leader: "Who here reached a 5 pound goal?"
Group: twisting heads to look at each other
Leader: "Okay, did anyone each a 10% goal?"
Group: twiddles thumbs
Leader: getting slightly pissy, "Surely, someone has something to celebrate!"
Bossy schoolteacher with 6 cats, "I go on vacation this week to Arizona and get to eat at my favorite restaurants!"
Leader: shooting Bossy a dirty look, "Great. Here's a star for you."
Leader: "Anyone else? I've got 5 stars left and we're not leaving until you guys find a reason to cheer."
Dead silence
Leader: voice reaching into a higher octave, "5 STARS! CELEBRATE!"
Desperate girl from group: "I lost point six pounds."
Future Hostage Negotiator, "I made it here by 7:30 on a Saturday morning. (pointing) And she did, too. And her. And her. THAT's 5 stars. (punching both fists into air and staring down the group leader) BOO-YAH!"
And with that, we filed out of the meeting.
